Feminism, Child Welfare, Healthcare, and Authoritarianism
Feminism is a life-living concept that revolves around equality of rights for women. Feminists believe that women are entitled to all rights enjoyed by men. Women’s rights are not limited to the workplace and social rights alone. Feminists also believe that the equality of opportunities to enjoy equality of rights should be extended to their family life also. Feminism impacts many other areas of human society. It can influence child welfare, healthcare, and authoritarianism among others. In essence; authoritarianism and feminism are the two contesting concepts opposed to each other.
What is the Relationship between Feminism and Child Welfare?
Feminism aims at equality of rights
and opportunities for women in all spheres of life. The challenges faced by the
parents in grooming their children are multiple. It is especially stringent for
working parents with small kids below 5 years in age. While childcare is an
important issue, prevention of child abuse is also essential. So; what is the
relationship between feminism and child welfare? Feminists believe
that childcare and prevention of child abuse must be a universal responsibility
for all. The responsibility must be shared by the mother, father, and
authorities. Feminist movements demandthe introduction of universal child
welfare standards in the United States.
Authoritarianism and Feminism
The direct relation between authoritarianism and feminism is that
they are opposite polls in the true sense. Authoritarianism has been the
age-old root cause of the oppression of women in various forms. At times the
authoritarian regimes have rolled back many progressive legislations and
practices favoring the rights of women. One of the characteristics of an
authoritarian regime is that it usually ignores feminist movements for the
protection of women’s rights. In a large democratic county like the United
States also, authoritarianism is visible in the anti-abortion policies adopted
in the year 2021 and confirmed by the Supreme Court in 2022.
Is Abortion Healthcare?
In a recent report, experts
from the United Nations Organization dealt with the question is abortion healthcare. They came up
with the finding that abortion is a healthcare issue and also a human right.
Ban on abortion can have a negative impact on a woman’s autonomy in dealing
with health-related issues. It can also expose women to loss of dignity,
oppression, and violence.
Feminism is thus related to child welfare, healthcare, and thefight against authoritarianism. The facts stated above clarifies what is the relationship between feminism and child welfare, healthcare, and the fight against authoritarianism.
